The highest suicide rate among doctors in all professions

Numerous studies have shown that doctors have a higher suicide rate than the general population, doctors have the highest suicide rate in any profession, and this risk is always present during training and practice. Between 28 and 40 doctors commit suicide, compared to 12% of the 100,000 population. The main reason for suicide among doctors is stress and hard work schedule. In the medical profession, the rate of depression is 12% for men and 19% for women. According to a study, 23% of medical students had suicidal thoughts. This year, according to a report by the British news agency, suicide is the leading cause of death among doctors among the general population. Forty percent more male doctors than ordinary people end their lives by suicide. Medical education in the United States is devastatingly expensive, costing more than Rs. A study of 195 studies and 129,123 medical students concluded that at least 25 percent of doctors had depression and 11 percent had suicidal thoughts. "We need to change the culture of medicine," said the medical director of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
