243 employees of the cybercrime circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) across the country were unpaid for two months, ARY News reported on Friday.
According to reports, the contractual employees of the FIA cybercrime circle from Grade 1 to 14 were not paid salaries. The officers and workers were deputed on a contractual basis for a long time for NR3C Project Phase III.
The contracts of the said workers were extended from July 1 to August 31 last time, however, the authorities did not issue orders regarding another extension so far for the month of September and onwards.
NR3C – National Response Centre for Cyber Crime
National Response Centre for Cyber Crime (NR3C), is the latest introduction to the mandate of the FIA, primarily to deal with technology-based crimes in Pakistan. It is the only unit of its kind in the country and in addition to the directly received complaints also assists other law enforcement agencies in their own cases, according to the official website.
NR3C has expertise in Digital Forensics, Technical Investigation, Information System Security Audits, Penetration Testing and training.
The unit since its inception has been involved in capacity building of the officers of Police, Intelligence, Judiciary, Prosecutors and other Govt. organizations.
NR3C has also conducted a large number of seminars, workshops and training/awareness programs for academia, print/electronic media and lawyers.
Cyber Scouts is also an initiative of NR3C, in which, selected students of different private and public schools are trained to deal with computer emergencies and spread awareness amongst their fellow students, teachers and parents.
