Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that the 100-year record of rainfall in Karachi has been broken this year.
Talking to media in Hyderabad, he said that there was heavy rain here too. Water has been pumped out from most areas but there is still water in some low-lying areas, the biggest problem being the lack of electricity at the pumping stations.
The Sindh Chief Minister directed a survey to declare the rain-affected areas as disaster-hit and promised to provide a compensation package.
It should be noted that after Karachi, 18 people were killed in various accidents due to torrential rains in several cities including Lahore.
