KARACHI: The Foreign Office has rejected the propaganda of Indian media on the list of sanctions issued by Pakistan. Reports issued by certain sections of the media against the new sanctions imposed by Pakistan through the said SROs are based on lies.
Similarly, claims are being made by some sections of the Indian media that Pakistan has acknowledged that some of the blacklisted people are on its soil, but these claims are also false and baseless.
The Foreign Office issued two joint SROs on August 18, 2020, stating that the current status of the UN sanctions list for the Taliban, ISIS and Al Qaeda has been maintained.
The lists include the names of those who have been added to the sanctions list in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. Joint SROs are issued as usual. Similar SROs have been issued by the Foreign Ministry in the past to meet the constitutional requirements required by international sanctions.
The last time such SROs were issued was in 2019. The SROs only reveal information on people subject to UN sanctions. It was reiterated that the SRO was compiled in the light of the UN sanctions list, which is also available to the public and includes the names of all persons subject to sanctions.
It also includes the names of people who have passed away, but their names have not been removed from the sanctions list.
