23 killed in rain accidents in Karachi

At least 23 people were killed in different accidents during rains in Karachi. Another wall collapsed at the site of a landslide in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

Six bodies, including two women and four children, have been exhumed from the landslide site. 

More people are feared to have been buried at the crash site. Police evacuated houses built on a hill at the site of the landslide.

Karachi broke the record for the heaviest rainfall in 24 hours. It rained 223 mm in 12 hours on Thursday.

 Earlier, on July 26, 1967, the maximum rainfall in 24 hours was 211 mm.

The Meteorological Department has forecast rain again today. The Sindh government has declared a public holiday across the province today.
